China's second nylon industrial base! Xuyang Group adipic acid plant restart

  Xuyang Group Yuncheng Park 2× 70,000 tons/year adiptic acid plant following the A line and B line respectively on March 26 and April 22 this year after the smooth output of quality products, the load rate of the device on May 1 increased to 100%, realized the double line full load operation, the daily output of adipic acid more than 400 tons.

  It is reported that with a view to achieving a comprehensive system upgrade, Xuyang Group has made an overall plan for the development of Yuncheng Park in the next five years and even longer. As an important direction with clear planning, we will extend the industry by relying on adipic acid, and gradually form a complete industrial chain including adipic acid, adipic diamine, nylon 66, nylon 66 engineering plastics, nylon 66 fiber and nylon 66 cord cloth.

  At present, Xuyang Group has introduced a central enterprise as a strategic partner, using its unique domestic technology to produce adipnitrile to carry out comprehensive cooperation, and plans to build a joint venture of 300,000 tons/year adipdiamine device, 600,000 tons/year nylon 66 device, 60,000 tons/year PBAT device and auxiliary facilities. After the completion of the project, Yuncheng Park will become the second nylon industrial base in China, which will further enhance the profitability and comprehensive competitiveness of the company and make positive contributions to the high-quality development of the local economy.

  As an important chemical raw material, adipic acid is widely used in the production of nylon 66, engineering plastics and degradable plastics PBAT, etc. Recently, the PBAT has also attracted much attention. In recent years, the demand of nylon engineering plastics in China has been growing rapidly, and the future development of high-grade nylon engineering plastics has a great prospect. However, due to the shortage of domestic nylon 66 supply, we can only rely on imported nylon 66 chip to meet the market demand, which seriously restricts the development of nylon engineering plastics industry. It is expected that China's nylon 66 capacity will reach 780,000 tons/year by 2022.

  The adipic acid plant, which runs at full capacity, was suspended in 2018.   Polyamide (PA), commonly known as nylon, is a widely used polymer material with a wide variety, among which PA6 and PA66 yield the largest. China's nylon industry has great potential for development, and technological breakthroughs in key raw materials and capacity outbreaks are under way.

  In the past few years, the production of PA66 in China has been severely constrained by the production technology of adiponitrile (ADN), a key raw material. The country has introduced a policy to encourage the development of adiponitrile domestic technology. Pingmeiwhat, Tianchen Qixiang, Chongqing Huafeng and other enterprises are promoting adipnitrile technology research and development and industrialization, and has made significant progress. INVISTA's new 400,000-ton/year adiponitrile project in Shanghai is scheduled to start production in 2022.

  China's PA6 upstream and downstream industrial chain layout is increasingly complete, and caprolactam, a key raw material, is relatively mature. At the end of 2020, China's caprolactam capacity is about 4.3 million tons/year, and it is expected that the new capacity will exceed 1 million tons in 2021. Future investment in new projects is intensive, with total capacity expected to approach 10 million tons per year by 2025. At the same time, with the increasing importance of green environmental protection technology, biological ginilone has become a hot direction, nylon 5X, nylon 1212 development and industrialization of the pace of acceleration.
